Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho scored a dramatic late winner as Celtic F.C. defeated Motherwell F.C. 3-2 on Wednesday to keep their Scottish Premiership title hopes alive.

The Super Eagles forward converted a stoppage-time penalty to hand Celtic a crucial victory and continue his impressive scoring run, with five goals in his last seven matches and eight in all competitions this season.

Motherwell opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Elliot Watt before Daizen Maeda restored parity for Celtic just before half-time.

Benjamin Nygren then fired Celtic ahead in the 58th minute, but Liam Gordon equalised for the hosts in the 85th minute to leave the contest finely balanced.

With the game heading for a draw, Celtic were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time after Sam Nicholson committed a foul inside the box.

Iheanacho stepped up confidently and converted from the spot in the 97th minute to seal all three points for the visitors.

The victory keeps Celtic firmly in the title race, sitting one point behind league leaders Heart of Midlothian F.C. ahead of the final game of the season on Saturday.

The decisive clash between Hearts and Celtic will now determine the 2025/26 Scottish Premiership champions.

Hearts need only a draw to secure their first league title since 1960, while Celtic must win to clinch a fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership crown.
