Former governor Mohammed Abubakar has won the All Progressives Congress governorship ticket for Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 election.
In results announced on Saturday, Abubakar secured 57,517 votes to defeat six other aspirants in the party’s primary.
Chairman of the APC governorship and house of assembly primary committee in the state, John Abang, said the results were collated after voting across the state and declared Abubakar the party’s flagbearer.
Former minister of foreign affairs Yusuf Tuggar finished second with 26,001 votes. Nura Manu Soro polled 13,638 votes, Bala Wunti recorded 13,648 votes, and Kabir Ma’aji scored 8,157 votes.
Tuggar resigned from his position as minister on March 30, following a directive from President Bola Tinubu that required political appointees seeking elective positions in 2027 to step down.
