A Kebbi resident who publicly urged the government to stop attacks in his community was kidnapped the same night.
Lawal Jabir Sahabi of Wasagu town, Danko-Wasagu LGA, was abducted Thursday night along with other residents, security analyst Bakatsine reported Friday on X.
The kidnapping came just hours after Sahabi posted on Facebook about worsening insecurity in Wasagu villages. He warned that if terrorism continued, residents would struggle to support APC in elections.
“Kebbi state government should continue to stop the terrorism in Wasagu villages,” he wrote.
Bakatsine said bandits stormed Wasagu town late Thursday. He prayed for the victims’ safe return and called on authorities to fix the security crisis.
The attack reflects Nigeria’s ongoing banditry problem. Amnesty International says at least 1,100 people were abducted in northern states between January and April 2026. Many victims face torture, starvation, and ransom demands.
A Facebook user, Sufiyanu Sani Na Ghana, reacted: “Lawal Jabir Sahabi post this and see your own destiny. May Allah make a way out with ease.”
