Armed men stormed Igbosi in Idogun, Ose LGA, Ondo State in the early hours of Friday around 1:30 a.m., opening fire and creating chaos. During the raid they injured several residents, damaged homes while forcing entry, and abducted nine-year-old Olaosebikan Victor, son of a local pastor.
Scared residents fled into nearby bushes and neighboring villages for safety. Family members confirmed to Premium Times that relatives in Igbosi are now staying with kin in Owo until the situation stabilizes.
Ondo State Police Command said the attack was reported shortly after it happened. Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh, a deputy superintendent, said officers and local security teams have started investigations and are working to rescue the boy and arrest those responsible.
The incident has added to rising worry over insecurity in the South-West. It comes just three weeks after about 39 students and 7 teachers were kidnapped in Oriire LGA, Oyo State. Security analysts warn that repeated attacks and abductions could increase public fear and weaken trust in security efforts if urgent action isn’t taken.
