Retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar, former Director of Defence Information, has died while in the custody of bandits in Katsina State.
The Katsina State government confirmed Abubakar’s death on Friday, June 13, 2026.
Abubakar and his wife were abducted in May while travelling through Katsina. Details of his death in captivity were not disclosed.
The government said further information would be released as it becomes available.
