World record holder Tobi Amusan says she is not under pressure to maintain her impressive form this season after securing another victory at the Paris Diamond League.

The Nigerian hurdler equalled her season’s best time of 12.28 seconds to win the women’s 100m hurdles on Sunday, finishing ahead of American athletes Grace Stark, who clocked 12.38 seconds, and Alaysha Johnson, who finished third in 12.39 seconds.

It was the third time this season that Amusan has run 12.28 seconds, having previously recorded the same time at the Xiamen Diamond League and the Rabat Diamond League in May.

The victory marked her second Diamond League win of the season after her triumph in Rabat. She also claimed titles at the New Taipei City Athletics Open and the African Championships in Botswana.

With the 29-year-old aiming to reclaim the Diamond League title she won three consecutive times between 2021 and 2023, Amusan currently holds the second-fastest time in the world this season behind Masai Russell, who leads with 12.14 seconds.

Despite her strong performances, Amusan insists she remains focused and is not weighed down by expectations.

“I do not like the warm weather at all, but whatever the weather, I was going to come out here and deliver. My execution was alright. I am just happy to be injury free,” she said.

“The pressure does not get to me. I have grace, a very strong support system around me, and that finish line. So I am never worried about pressure on the night.

“My approach to the hurdles varies. Sometimes you are thinking about what has just happened. Other days, it is really sloppy and I still come out and run a fast time. I try to give my best in every race.”

Amusan also confirmed that her next competition will be the Prefontaine Classic, although she is yet to decide her schedule beyond that event.
