Three men have been remanded in a correctional facility over the murder of retired Ogun State Television broadcaster Madam Olakitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.

The suspects were arraigned on Monday before Magistrate Court 3 in Isabo, Abeokuta. They are Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, Abduraheem Sakirudeen, 27, and Sobur Obafunso, 30. The double killing happened on June 20, 2026, at Agodo Village, Kobape, in Abeokuta.

Following an ex parte motion by the prosecution, the magistrate ordered that the defendants be held for 60 days pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions. The case was adjourned to September 7, 2026, for further proceedings.

Police said the incident was reported on June 21 after unusual activity was noticed at Oyesiku’s home. Responding detectives found Adetayo dead inside the security house and Oyesiku lying in a pool of blood inside the main building. The victim’s Lexus RX 330 was also missing.

Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni told reporters at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran that Philip, a former employee of the deceased, confessed to planning the attack to “teach her a lesson.” Police said Philip recruited Sakirudeen, a security guard, and Obafunso, a bricklayer, to help carry out the crime.

Investigators tracked and recovered the stolen Lexus on June 22 in the Onikolobo area. Although the ignition key and plates had been removed, the original number plate was found hidden under a seat, which helped confirm ownership.

Police also said a handwritten note found at the scene was sent for forensic examination and provided leads that aided the arrests. Philip was picked up on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA where he was working as a labourer. The other two suspects were arrested in follow-up operations.

According to the police account, the men overpowered the guard, forced entry into the house, attacked Oyesiku, killed the guard, and fled with the SUV. Items recovered as exhibits include a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, and a black pen.

The case will return to court in September while the DPP reviews the file.
