Ghanaian police have arrested two Nigerian nationals in connection with the alleged murder of a fellow Nigerian, Nkemujika Uzochukwu Eze, in Sanzirigu, a suburb of Tamale, Northern Region of Ghana.
The suspects, identified as Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, were arrested following an intelligence-led operation after the body of the 36-year-old victim was discovered in his bedroom on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the Northern Regional Police Command said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly admitted to conspiring to kill Eze following a dispute over proceeds from suspected internet fraud activities.
According to the police, officers who responded to the scene found the deceased with a deep cut injury on his forehead and a towel stuffed in his mouth, while the bedroom had been ransacked.
Investigators recovered a wooden pestle suspected to have been used in the attack, along with other items taken for forensic examination.
The victim’s body was conveyed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where a medical officer confirmed him dead. It has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police investigations revealed that Eze lived in a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzochukwu, the two arrested suspects, and another Nigerian identified as Godwin Nwafor.
The police said investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all persons connected to the crime face justice.
