A senior chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Toba Ijaiya, has died after being shot by unknown gunmen two days ago.
Ijaiya, described by sources as a high-ranking and influential figure within the union, was confirmed dead at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos where he was receiving treatment.
The attack has sent shockwaves through transport parks in central Lagos.
AAN TV gathered that there is a high likelihood of reprisals and breakdown of law and order by loyalists in the coming days.
In response, residents and commuters are advised to exercise caution and plan movements carefully, particularly around Onipanu, Fadeyi, Jibowu, Yaba, Idi Oro, and the Mushin axis.
These areas are key NURTW strongholds and are expected to see increased tension and heavy security presence.
Police have not yet released an official statement on the circumstances of the shooting or possible suspects.
The union has not commented publicly as of press time.
