Nigeria’s Head Coach, Finidi George, has announced his squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.

Leading the 23-man list is the in-form Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman, who recently scored a hat-trick to secure the Europa League trophy for the Italian club against Victor Boniface’s Bayer Leverkusen. Other notable inclusions are Boniface, Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, and Terem Moffi. Additionally, Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye returns to the squad after an absence.

George’s selection also features defenders, Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi from England, midfielders, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, and Alhassan Yusuf, as well as forwards, Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Boniface, and Terem Moffi. Also on the list is a debut call-up for Remo-stars defender, Ismail Sodiq who plays in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The Super Eagles will face South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, June 7th, 2024 at 8 PM, before traveling to Abidjan to play against Benin Republic at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny on Monday, June 10th, 2024, at 5 PM Nigeria time.
