Troops of the 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, achieved a significant victory by neutralizing a notorious terrorist kingpin, Sani Rusu, during a recent operation in Zamfara State.
According to a statement released on Monday by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, the operation took place over the weekend when troops conducted a fighting patrol in Bamamu Village, Tsafe Local Government Area.

On the same day, another operation was conducted at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi LGA, based on credible intelligence about terrorist activities. Troops successfully neutralized several terrorists, inflicted fatal injuries on others, and recovered key items, including:
- One AK-47 rifle
- One G3 rifle
- Eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
- Four rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition
- Three magazines
- Three motorcycles
In a separate operation, the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji launched airstrikes on December 30, 2024, targeting terrorists converging between Fakai and Kware in Shinkafi LGA. Intelligence revealed the meeting was led by notorious terrorist Bello Turji.
Further airstrikes on January 2, 2025, targeted Maikaman Rini in Sububu Forest, dismantling the camp of another terrorist kingpin, Ibrahim Chumo. The offensive continued on January 5, 2025, with attacks on Bello Turji’s camp in the Chida area of Shinkafi.
Aerial surveillance confirmed significant casualties among the terrorists, with hideouts destroyed and several terrorists sustaining injuries.
Operation Hadarin Daji reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating all terrorist threats within the Joint Task Force Theatre of Operation and assured the public of its resolve to maintain peace and security in the region. The task force also called for continued cooperation from local communities to support its mission.
