Nigerian hip-hop veteran and activist, Eedris Abdulkareem, has slammed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying while the country’s leader may be a good father to his son, Seyi, he is the worst president Nigeria has ever had.

Abdulkareem made this statement during his appearance on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds, discussing his latest song, “Tell Your Papa,” which criticizes Tinubu’s administration and has sparked significant attention, backlash, and a nationwide ban by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The NBC described the song as “objectionable” and a breach of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, citing its violation of “public decency”.

Abdulkareem emphasized that his song highlights the harsh realities Nigerians face under Tinubu’s leadership, including skyrocketing petrol prices, out-of-control inflation, rising insecurity, and widespread financial hardship. He pointed out that the naira has lost significant value, leading to escalating poverty and declining wealth.

The artist also criticized Seyi Tinubu’s defense of his father’s administration, suggesting he lacks understanding of the economic struggles Nigerians face.

Abdulkareem rejected claims of personal attacks, stating his lyrics focus on the policies and failures of Tinubu’s government.

The artist revealed he turned down a N200 million offer to retract or silence the song, affirming his commitment to speaking truth to power.

Abdulkareem called for stronger leadership that would reform the constitution, return to regional government, and clean up the judiciary.

He condemned influencers and celebrities who support the government in exchange for favors, urging them to stop collecting “blood money” while people suffer.
