The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has suspended its strike at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) following the intervention of the Federal Government.

The decision came after an emergency meeting convened by the Minister of Power, with officials from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, TCN management, the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), NUEE, and the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC).

After hours of deliberation, all parties agreed on key resolutions that paved the way for the suspension of the industrial action.

As part of the truce, the unions accepted the Minister’s appeal to review the report of a standing committee between October 6 and 7, 2025, with implementation scheduled to begin later in the month.

Additionally, TCN and NISO will jointly assess the financial implications of the committee’s report and draft an implementation plan for presentation to the Minister of Power and the unions.

Both sides will reconvene for further discussions to resolve outstanding issues, while the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has been directed to fast-track its review of electricity tariffs to ensure smooth implementation of the agreement.
