The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an 80-year-old ex-convict, Jeremiah Isaiah Nkanta, after tracking him to his home in Akwa Ibom State where he was found with 5.7 kilograms of skunk, having returned to the illicit drug trade shortly after completing a two-year prison sentence for the same crime.
In a series of other nationwide operations, the agency also intercepted a 37-year-old businessman in Akwa Ibom who had concealed 5.3 kilograms of tramadol inside full-body mannequins intended for shipment to Cameroon.
Meanwhile, raids in Oyo State led to the arrest of several dealers, including a 45-year-old known as ‘Aluko the Mafia,’ and the seizure of over 10 kilograms of various cannabis strains and more than ₦1.3 million in cash.
Further arrests and seizures of large quantities of tramadol, skunk, and other illicit substances also occurred in Edo, Niger, Taraba, and Adamawa states, prompting the NDLEA Chairman to commend the various commands for their successful operations and public sensitization efforts.
