President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on a condolence visit following last Sunday’s attacks in the Angwan Rukuba district that left at least 27 people dead.
The President was received at the Yakubu Gowon Airport by the All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and other top government officials.
Tinubu had earlier condemned the attacks, describing them as “barbaric and cowardly” acts that will not go unpunished. He commended Governor Mutfwang for his efforts in containing the situation and directed security agencies to intensify efforts to pursue the perpetrators.
The President also cautioned against suggesting the attacks were religiously motivated, warning that such narratives could escalate violence.
The visit is part of Tinubu’s broader four-state itinerary, reflecting concern over the killings in Plateau.
The government has vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, with security forces cordoning off the affected area and launching targeted search-and-clearance operations.
