The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as ‘Yayi’, as the party’s consensus candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election.
The adoption took place during a strategic caucus meeting held at the party’s secretariat on Abiola Way, Abeokuta, attended by Governor Dapo Abiodun, former governor Olusegun Osoba, and other prominent party members.
Governor Abiodun appealed to other aspirants from Ogun West, including Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Abiodun Akinlade, to step down in support of Adeola, paving the way for his unanimous adoption.
In his acceptance speech, Adeola pledged to sustain the state’s growth trajectory, vowing not to disappoint Ogun State and the APC.
“I’ll not let Ogun State, our great party down,” Adeola said, promising to maintain the state’s status as one of the fastest-growing economies and industrial hubs in the country.
He emphasized the importance of unity and peace in the state, calling on party members to work together to take Ogun State to the next level.
The adoption has been hailed as a significant development in the state’s political landscape, with many expecting Adeola to lead the party to victory in the upcoming election.
