Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday inaugurated the newly completed Lodge Road in the Government Reserved Area of Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State and flagged off the construction of Sarkin Yaki Road in the Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government Area.
Mrs Tinubu, who was in the state to inaugurate the Energise Commercialisation Now initiative, was accompanied by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, his wife, and other top government officials and dignitaries.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mustapha Muhammad, the projects are part of efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance economic activities in the state.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady emphasised the importance of road infrastructure in driving development.
“Quality roads remain essential for easier movement of people and goods, improved security access, and stronger state and national economies,” she said.
She also called for sustained collaboration among the federal, state and local governments to ensure that more communities benefit from impactful projects.
In his remarks, Yusuf described the visit as a testament to the partnership required to achieve development goals, noting that his administration remained committed to supporting initiatives that promote growth and modernisation.
He added that the projects would boost transportation, create business opportunities and contribute to urban renewal in Kano metropolis.
The event was attended by senior government officials, traditional leaders and political stakeholders, including the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, members of the National Assembly and representatives of North-West governors.
