Air Peace grounded its Warri-Lagos flight on Friday after a bird strike during landing at Osubi Airport in Delta State.
The airline’s spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, said engineers ran immediate safety and technical checks on the aircraft once it touched down. Early inspections showed the landing gear needed deeper checks, so the plane was grounded per standard aviation safety rules. That meant the return trip from Osubi to Lagos couldn’t go ahead.
Air Peace said it’s covering hotel stays for affected passengers in Osubi while it works to get them to Lagos another way.
“Safety remains our foremost priority,” the airline said in a statement. “Disruptions like this are regrettable, but every decision we make is guided by strict safety and regulatory standards.”
The airline thanked passengers for their patience and said it will share updates as the situation changes.
