Senate President Godswill Akpabio told members of the City Boy Movement on Wednesday that opposition parties are already unprepared for 2027, and will only allege fraud after President Bola Tinubu wins re-election.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the group to his office in Abuja, Akpabio described the movement as a “wind blowing across the nation” that political parties are already feeling. He said having agents in every polling unit this time will prevent votes from being missed like in previous elections.

“You may not see it, but you can feel it,” he said. “Never again shall we have a situation in any polling unit in Nigeria where Mr. President will not have an agent because we have the City Boy Movement.”

Akpabio, who is the grand patron of the group, asked members to step up voter mobilisation, education and sensitisation nationwide. He added that while they are working, other parties “are sleeping,” and when results are announced, the response will be claims of rigging.

He also framed the campaign as training for young Nigerians eyeing future leadership. “This is now your turn to shape your future. This is your turn to take the lead on how Nigeria should go,” Akpabio said. He warned against distractions like cultism and drug abuse, and said the Senate supports youths who choose “constructive engagement.”

The Senate President stressed discipline and commitment, saying it would be “a tragedy” for any young person in the movement to derail now that they have a chance to “chart the path of the next administration.” He assured the group of 100 percent backing from the National Assembly.

Earlier, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Shoga, said the visit was to strengthen collaboration with the National Assembly and to expand the group’s civic engagement programs across the country.
