The Court of Arbitration for Sport will hear Senegal’s challenge to the decision that took away its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations crown.
In a statement released Friday, CAS said the hearing is scheduled for October 8 at its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. The proceedings will be held behind closed doors.
CAS added that a ruling will not be issued on the day of the hearing, and it did not give a timeline for when a decision will be delivered.
The case was filed on March 25, 2026 by the Senegalese Football Federation. It names CAF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation as respondents and relates to the AFCON 2025 final in Morocco.
Senegal is asking CAS to overturn a March 17 ruling by the CAF Appeals Board. That decision declared Senegal had forfeited the final after several players walked off the pitch to protest a referee’s call. CAF awarded the match 3-0 to Morocco and named them champions, citing breaches of Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations.
The FSF appeal asks CAS to instead declare Senegal the winners of AFCON 2025.
Senegal confirmed its appeal to CAS a week after the CAF verdict.
