Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has inaugurated the Peoples Democratic Party campaign council for Kogi Central, charging members to take PDP’s message directly to voters ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking during the inauguration on Monday, August 11, 2026, the senator representing Kogi Central said the party cannot rely on rallies alone.
“This campaign must be house-to-house and polling-unit-by-polling-unit. We must reach our people directly, listen to them, engage them and explain clearly why the PDP remains the best platform for the development and progress of our people,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said.
She appointed Salami Etudaiye as Director-General of the campaign organization and Abubakar Karaku as Campaign Chairman.
Other members of the council include Jacob Ogirima Anebe, Secretary; Ilyasu Zubair, Head of Operations; Isiaka Uhuanaye, Head of Technicals; and Jane Onoba, Head of Welfare.
The senator urged the team to ensure full coverage of all wards and polling units in the district, while demonstrating discipline, unity, and commitment. She also called for an open-door approach to bring in new members.
“We must open our doors for everyone who wants to join this moving train and this winning team. There is room for everyone who believes in the PDP and in the future we are building for Kogi central,” she said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that winning in 2027 will require the collective effort of party leaders, women, youths, ward executives, coordinators, volunteers and other stakeholders.
In his acceptance speech, DG Salami Etudaiye described his appointment as a mandate to build a formidable movement across the district.
“This is not a ceremonial title. This is a call to battle. I did not accept this assignment to manage a campaign of polite handshakes and quiet meetings. I accepted it to organise a movement,” he said.
Etudaiye said the campaign will cover Okene, Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi and Ogori-Magongo LGAs, with focus on wards, polling units, streets, markets, campuses and households.
“We are not going into this election to beg. We are going in to win and to win decisively,” he added. He called on women and youths to take active roles, describing women as the backbone of the party and youths as key to modern political mobilization. He also pledged to run the campaign with transparency and competence.
Campaign Chairman Abubakar Karaku urged PDP stakeholders to prioritize party unity over personal differences.
“This is the time for every member of our great party to come together. We must put aside whatever differences we may have and concentrate on the larger objective of building a stronger PDP and securing victory for our candidates,” Karaku said.
He called for issue-based campaigns focused on PDP’s programmes, rather than personal attacks.
“Our message must be positive, our conduct must be responsible, and our mobilisation must be strategic,” he said.
The inauguration marks one of the earliest major campaign structures to be set up in Kogi State ahead of 2027.
