President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to embark on a visit to Niger State on Monday, as announced by the State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Hon. Binta Mamman, during a briefing in Minna on Sunday.

Mamman assured that the state government has finalised preparations to ensure a seamless and successful visit by the President.

One significant aspect of the visit involves the renaming of Minna International Airport, currently named after Abubakar Iman, to honour President Tinubu.

Mamman revealed that the President’s visit is geared towards inaugurating agricultural equipment, valued at billions of naira, procured by the state government for various agricultural initiatives.

Emphasising the meticulous planning for the President’s visit, Mamman outlined that measures have been implemented to guarantee a trouble-free experience. She highlighted additional projects set for commissioning, including the revamped terminal airport and the commencement of the Hajji terminal foundation at the airport.

Addressing the agricultural sector, Commissioner for Agriculture Bawa Bosso reiterated Governor Umaru Bago’s commitment to ensuring national food security through an agricultural mechanisation initiative. Bosso reported that out of the targeted 10,000 tractors, the government has already provided 500, with an additional 200 power tillers out of 1,000 in the inventory.

Notably, the planters, earmarked for the agricultural mechanization project, are currently stationed at Minna Airport, awaiting their formal commissioning scheduled for Monday.

Special Adviser on Governance and Reform, Isah Adamu, shared insights into the President’s itinerary, revealing that Tinubu will not only commission the procured agricultural equipment but also lay the foundation for the Hajj terminal at the airport. The symbolic commissioning is anticipated to take place before the President’s return to Abuja, concluding his visit to Niger State.
