Nigeria’s cost of living eased just a bit in June.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported that headline inflation came in at 15.91% for June 2026. That’s a small dip from 15.93% in May, and the first time the rate has dropped in three months.
According to the NBS Consumer Price Index report released Wednesday, prices still rose, but more slowly.
Key numbers:
- Year-on-year: 15.91% in June vs 15.93% in May, a 0.02 percentage point decrease
- Month-on-month: 1.66% in June vs 1.75% in May, down 0.09 percentage points
The bureau explained that the drop means the average price level increased at a slower pace in June than it did in May.
This is the first relief after three straight months of increases, though inflation remains in double digits.
