The Akwa Ibom Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara is dead.
Ayilara, it was gathered, died in the early of Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.
Sources close to the family told newsmen he underwent a prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday before he died hours later.
” We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother and family, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara is dead,” the family member said.
He will be buried today, Thursday, 29 August, 2024 in accordance with Islamic rites.
A devoted Muslim, Ayilara acted as the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State before he was posted to Akwa Ibom in substantive capacity.
