The United Kingdom has appointed Peter Vowles as its new High Commissioner to Nigeria.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
According to the statement, Vowles is expected to assume office in September 2026, succeeding the current High Commissioner as the UK seeks to strengthen its diplomatic and strategic ties with Nigeria.

The appointment highlights the United Kingdom’s continued commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Nigeria across key areas, including trade, security, education, governance and economic cooperation.
